Farmers to Make N100, 000 Monthly From Rabbit Urine, Poo – Nalda

The National Agricultural Development Authority (NALDA) has rolled out a programme to engage 17,000 rabbit farmers in the south with about 5,000 rabbits already distributed to farmers in Imo, Abia, Cross River and Oyo states in the first phase.
Youths, who are enrolled in the programme will make an average of N100,000 selling Rabbit waste( poo and urine) and other value chain products.
The Executive Secretary and CEO of the agency, Prince Paul Ikonne, while interacting with Agric journalists in Abuja, said this was new area with good potential.

Price Ikonne said the NALDA has started implementing the first leg, which focuses on animal husbandry with emphasis on goat and rabbit as part of the wider presidential approval to engage 774,000 youths in agriculture/agribusiness value chains across the country.
According to him, from the first day the farmer start rearing rabbit, he begins to make money, adding that “from the collection of the urine to the collection of the poo, which would be used as fertilizer, their money will keep accumulating. At the end of the month, we will pay them based on the litres and the kg of what they have submitted to NALDA offices at the various states before the off-taker takes it.”
