Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has emphasized the importance of teamwork and growth in achieving the objectives of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC).

During his recent visit to the NCCC offices in Abuja, Lawal described the council as a “growing venture” and stressed the need for progression to meet its targets.

Acknowledging potential challenges, Minister Lawal urged the staff to demonstrate determination, dedication, and commitment to propel the NCCC forward.

He highlighted the essential role of the NCCC’s Director General, Dr. Salisu Dahiru, emphasizing the collaborative effort required from the entire staff to achieve the council’s primary goal.

With a renewed government focus on climate change, Minister Lawal referenced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s active participation in international meetings on climate change.

He urged the NCCC to align with the President’s commitment and support the nation’s renewed hope for climate action.

The Minister emphasized the values of dedication, mentoring, punctuality, and teamwork as fundamental to delivering the council’s mandate, promoting environmental stewardship and collective effort for a sustainable future.

In response, NCCC Director General, Dr. Dahiru, expressed gratitude for the Minister’s visit, highlighting its significance as the first visit by a Minister since the establishment of the NCCC in 2022.

He assured the Minister of unwavering support, emphasizing the NCCC’s commitment to contributing to the government’s efforts in addressing climate change.

Minister Lawal’s visit serves as a catalyst for reinvigorating the staff’s dedication to environmental action and bolstering the NCCC’s mission to play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s stance and strategies on climate change.
