The Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele will on July 21 inaugurate the multimillion naira Unilorin GgMAX Integrated Poultry Farm.
The farm is located at Amoyo in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara.
Prof. Mikhail Buhari, the Chairman of the Farm Project, who is also the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), announced this to newsmen in Ilorin during a pre-commissioning facility tour of the farm on Monday.
Buhari stated that the commercial poultry farm is financed by a N600 million loan facility from the nation’s apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
He said that the formal inauguration would be hosted by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Abidu Rafindadi Yazidu, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem.
The event is also expected to be graced by dignitaries from all walks of life, including Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; CBN deputy governors and some directors as well as heads of sister institutions of higher learning and prominent traditional rulers from across the state.
He described the project as a success story in view of the positive changes it has brought to the people of the host community and the transformation of a hitherto sleepy region into a busy and economically viable one.
He pointed out that the project would contribute to the country’s efforts towards attaining self-sufficiency in poultry production and boost employment opportunities for Nigerian youths.
N170-N190/litre: Nigerians react to pump price increase

Following the approval of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited to increase petrol price, to be sold henceforth between N170/litre and N190/litre in filling stations across the country, some Nigerians who spoke to NatureNews on Tuesday have expressed displeasure over the development.
The Federal government had announced the increase on Monday, which according to them, is a subtle agreement between Federal Government officials and oil marketers.
The increase was the outcome of a meeting between the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and oil marketers last Thursday.
NatureNews gathered that the spokesman for the NMDPRA, Kimchi Apollo, is yet to confirm the development to newsmen.
However, National Operations Controller of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Mike Osatuyi, while confirming the fuel pump price hike, also denied that a meeting was held between oil marketers and the Federal Government on Thursday.
But he informed that there was a fresh increase, describing it as a “market fundamentally determined price.”
“Petrol now sells between N175-N180 per litre depending on the area, ‘’ he said.
In Port Harcourt, some customers at a petrol station at Elelenwo, blamed the present administration of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the increase.
A respondent named Elijah said, “ They have not just failed, But have also vowed to inflict Nigerians with suffering. They shall be judged.”
Also, Austin added, “People in SouthEast has since January adjusted their pots and belts and it won’t surprise us that kerosene will go above 1k a litre.”
