Embrace EU Green Deal for Sustainable Development – Experts

By Grace Samuel

In a recent gathering of environmental sustainability experts, enthusiasts, and stakeholders in Abuja, Mrs. Astrid Arens, a renowned environmental protection sustainability expert and the founder of the Digital International Platform for Environmental Protection (DIPESH), called upon Nigeria to seize the opportunity presented by the EU Green Deal, set to commence in January 2024.

Astrid Arens emphasized the significance of the EU Green Deal, highlighting that it is a groundbreaking initiative, the likes of which the world has never seen before.

She urged Nigerians to actively engage with the EU Green Deal, recognizing its potential to bring about rapid and transformative change on a global scale.

Despite Nigeria’s abundant mineral resources, vast land, and favorable climate, it continues to grapple with climate and environmental challenges.

Astrid Arens stressed the importance of the EU Green Deal’s new law, which mandates that all companies prioritize sustainability in climate, environment, and social responsibility for their employees.

The event at which this call was made was organized by the Richard George Foundation (RGF), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), in collaboration with Voice-Aid Association, Germany E.V, and DIPESH.

It served as a platform for various companies to embrace their role as sustainability advocates and supporters of a global, sustainable economy aimed at preserving the environment.

Astrid Arens’ message underscores the pressing need for Nigeria to align with global sustainability efforts and leverage the opportunities presented by initiatives like the EU Green Deal.

Embracing sustainability in business practices and environmental stewardship can contribute to a brighter and more sustainable future for Nigeria and the world.
