Eko Innovation Center (EIC), in collaboration with Eko Carbon and Commodity Exchange and with assistance from Generation Unlimited 9ja, on Friday launched Ekoclimathon 1.0.
According to a statement by Victor Afolabi, CEO/founder of Eko Innovation Centre, the launch is part of efforts to combat climate change through technological innovations.
Also, he announced that five startups will also receive $7,500, laptops, up to $50,000 in equity investment in the EIC accelerator program, and a chance to receive three months of industry mentorship as part of the inaugural edition.
Afolabi said, “Ekoclimathon was established to use technology to address climate issues affecting Nigeria and the rest of the world.
“This is merely our individual perspective on how we can contribute to the resolution of the myriad problems plaguing not only Nigeria but also the rest of the world.
“I believe if we just do a little.” According to Afolabi, “We can bring about the change we want to see, inclusiveness and a sustainable and livable society.”
The EIC supports startups from the idea stage through commercialization.
In collaboration with the Lagos State government and others, it is the driving force behind projects like the Lagos Smart Meter Hackathon and Art of Technology Lagos, Afolabi added.
