Ehanire advices youths against second-hand smoking

Health Minister, Dr Osagie Ehanire has revealed the danger in second-hand smoking, saying that it lead to non-communicable diseases.

The Minister said exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke is one of the main preventable risk factors for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).

Ehanire gave this advice during a press briefing which marks “World No Tobacco Day” on Monday in Abuja, the event was themed “Commit to quitting”.

According to him, diseases like hypertension, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are caused by second-hand smoking.

He explained that the goal for the day was to advocate for strong smoking cessation guidelines and programs.

Ehanire call on Nigerians to promote increased access to smoking cessation services so that at least 100 million tobacco users around the world are offered help and empowered to make successful attempts to quit. To smoke.

According to him, this will help publicize the tactics of the tobacco industry.
