Earthquake: Turkey requests humanitarian aid from Nigeria

The Turkish Embassy in Nigeria has pleaded with the Federal Government and people of Nigeria to provide humanitarian aid to those affected by the earthquake that struck certain Turkish provinces on February 6, 2023.
In a statement made available to the media in Abuja, the Embassy announced this.
The Embassy stated that the supplies would be sent to the victims right away by Turkish Airlines and provided drop-off locations in Abuja and Lagos.
To the kind attention of volunteers who wish to provide in-kind donations to those impacted by the severe earthquakes in Turkey, the statement reads:
“We would much appreciate donations of the following most-needed items:
Winter outfits for adults and kids, including coats, raincoats, boots, sweaters, pants, gloves, neckpieces, neck scarves, and berets
underwear, socks.
“Other goods include a tent, bed mattress (for tents), blanket, sleeping bag, and mummy bag in addition to a cotolytic stove with tube, heater cylinder, tube vacuum flask, thermos, torch, power bank, and generator.
“Food: (durable food items, such as canned food) baby food, formula, diapers, and other baby products.
“Please put your belongings in transparent bags and list the contents of each bag specifically.
The in-kind gifts will be expedited and prioritizedly delivered to Turkiye by Turkish Airlines.
“Donation collection points: are Lagos, ARMADA lnternational Limited, 8 Solomon Agbonton Road (Aerodrome Road) and Abuja, No. 46 Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2 Abuja, FCT.”
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck some cities in southern Turkey and Syria on February 6 claimed the lives of over 22,000 people and left thousands more injured and displaced.
Turkey’s president, Recep Erdogan, has declared a national emergency and asked for aid from other countries.
