Malachite is basically a mineral that contains copper carbonate. It is known for its patterned green colour. It is beautiful, rich and can easily be recognized. It is mostly mined for practical purposes at the early stage of discovery.
Malachite is an ore ofc and has a green colour which results from oxidation of copper in the air. Its mineral formation occurs close to the earth’s surface. It occurs in caverns and caves alike in which the minerals coat the ground surface. Often times, malachite stone may be seen in crystal form and appear translucent in colour.
The name “Malachite” comes an ancient Greek word “Malakee” or “Malache” which describes Mallow bush leaves, a plant that is most popular in regions of Europe, Asia and Africa.
Malachite has a lot of benefits which includes: relieving tensions in your body and promotes good health and effective communication. It is used in decorating the homes and offices as it also helps to remove negative energies from the surroundings. It is worthy of note that cleaning malachite should be done with care in warm soapy water and gentle clothings to eliminate impurities. It is naturally produced and may be expensive.
Malachite is used extensively in making beads, boxes, carvings cabochons etc. faceted crystal of Malachite are microscopic in size. A faceted stone which is bigger than 0.5 Carat are Opaque and won’t allow the passage of light.
