Axinite is a group of mineral with varieties of colours which is made up of Calcium aluminium boro-silicate. The mineral groups of Axinite includes Iron-dominant ferroaxinite, magnesium -dominant magnesioaxinite and manganese dominate manganaxinite. They have same structure but differs in their composition.
The word “axinite” was gotten from the Greek word “axine” which means axe, which depicts it’s sharp edged-body. They are hard, easily broken with a low clarity. They are beautiful with excellent lustre. It has a mohs hardness of 7 and may be transparent or translucent.
They are basically brown which is due to its high content of iron. Low iron content gives it the bluish colour. It may have other colours of yellow, purple and so on.
Axinite displays pleochoism with different colours of olive green, red, cinnamon and brown respectively. They may be seen in some countries around the globe which are United States, Sri-Linka, Australia, Tanzania and Brazil.
Axinite are formed within the crevices and veins of some rocks such as granite. Some of the minerals associated with Axinite includes Quartz, Calcite, Andradite, Diopside etc. Mostly, Axinite crystals tend to be sharp edges but may have parallel blade or in granular formation.
Axinite has a wide application in medicine, health, Jewelries and clothings, metaphysics and spiritual purposes. It is used in medicine for it’s healing properties, it disrupt energy blockage and all forms of negativity. It provides access to spiritual world.
They are used in providing healing to skeletal issues. They treat all forms of fractures and broken bones. They are used in Jewelries in the production of pendants, rings, earrings etc.
Axinite is rare and may come in small but expensive prizes. The larger ones are more expensive.
