Delta State govt trains 1000 youths on sustainable agribusiness

The Delta State government has provoded skills, tools and inputs for 1000 youths to build sustainable agribusinesses and drive agricultural growth.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Val Arenyeka, disclosed this while declaring open a three-day Wealth Creation Training Programme through Agriculture for youths in Ughelli, on Wednesday.

He said the programme will move youths beyond subsistence farming into commercially viable enterprises, beginning with cocoa, coffee, cotton and ginger.

Speaking at the ceremony, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Hon. George Oyefia, said participants will receive practical training in mechanised farming. He also disclosed that participants will be provided with 10,000 cocoa, 100,000 cotton, 5,000 coffee and 5,000 ginger seedlings.
