The Delta State Government has allocated N10 billion to the agricultural sector in the proposed 2026 budget, Governor Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori announced on Wednesday.

He made the announcement during his budget presentation to the Delta State House of Assembly.

The Governor described agriculture as a key driver of economic diversification and sustainable development in the state.

Oborevwori highlighted Delta’s fertile soil and favourable ecology for crops such as rubber, yam, maize, potato, plantain, and tomato.

He also noted the state’s strong competitive advantages in oil palm, cassava, and aquaculture.

The Governor said the 2026 allocation will support efforts to enhance food security, promote self-reliance, generate employment opportunities, and accelerate overall development in the agricultural sector.
