Dangote Refinery Marks Milestone with Fourth Crude Shipment
Dangote Refinery, the world’s largest single-train refinery, has welcomed its fourth shipment of one million barrels of bonny light crude, supplied by NNPC.
This crucial delivery propels the refinery closer to its operational debut, enabling the initiation of diesel, aviation fuel, and LPG production.
Anticipation grows for the imminent arrival of the fifth crude shipment, reinforcing Dangote’s commitment to receiving six million barrels before early January 2024.
With a total of three million barrels already in its inventory as of Thursday, the refinery’s Managing Director, Mr. Akin Omole, anticipates the successful reception of the remaining shipments.
The refinery’s capacity to process 650,000 barrels per day, designed for 100% Nigerian crude, positions it to address fuel supply challenges in Nigeria and West Africa.
The refinery’s versatility includes processing various African crude grades, Middle Eastern Arab Light, US Light tight oil, and crude from other nations.
Once all six million barrels are delivered, the refinery will undergo its initial run, initiating diesel, aviation fuel, and LPG production before progressing to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
This achievement holds significant promise in alleviating fuel supply challenges across Nigeria and West Africa.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s capability to meet 100% of Nigeria’s refined product requirements and its surplus for export underscore its strategic importance.
President of Dangote Group, Mr. Aliko Dangote, expressed delight in reaching this milestone and emphasized the focus on ramping up the refinery to full capacity.
The upcoming months hold the promise of delivering the first batch of products to the Nigerian market, marking another significant stride in this ambitious project.
