Dangote Fertiliser Limited (DFL) is embracing advanced, environmentally sustainable technology to transform Nigeria’s fertilizer sector and set new industrial standards.
On November 11, 2025, the company announced a partnership with German firm Thyssenkrupp Uhde Fertilizer Technology (UFT) to deploy UFT’s fluid bed granulation system for four new urea production units in Lekki.
The upgraded facilities will integrate energy-efficient scrubbing systems to reduce dust and ammonia emissions, while Ammonia Convert Technology (ACT) will turn byproducts into usable urea, cutting waste and improving logistics.
DFL’s move demonstrates how industrial innovation can increase production efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
Nadja Haakansson, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Uhde, highlighted that the technology is globally recognized, producing over 70 percent of the world’s urea granules and maintaining emissions well below regulatory limits.
“Our partnership with DFL exemplifies how modern fertilizer production can be both high-performing and environmentally responsible,” she said.
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, said the investment positions Nigeria as a hub for sustainable fertilizer production in Africa, promoting industrial growth while supporting the country’s drive for agricultural self-sufficiency.
