Dangote Cement Plans Academy to Address Housing Skill Gap in Nigeria
Dangote Cement Plc plans to establish an academy to transfer essential skills to block makers and artisans in the real estate sector.
The academy aims to combat collapse building by reducing quackery and providing necessary training.
The company will support graduates with tools and machinery, and they have already built numerous cement depots across the country to ensure cement availability.
Dangote Cement has significantly contributed to the development of the real estate sector by investing in cement production, which has led to exporting cement instead of importing it.
However, challenges like rapid urbanization, high land acquisition costs, lack of infrastructure, and inadequate policies still affect housing provision in Nigeria.
The coordinator of the Africa International Housing Show urged the Federal Government to collaborate with Dangote Cement to address the housing deficit.
He emphasized the importance of housing and advocated for public-private partnerships to tackle the issue effectively.
Additionally, he encouraged the private sector to incorporate housing as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
