As the world faces unprecedented challenges brought by extreme climate change, environmental advocacy body, Climate Africa Media Initiative Center (CAMIC), has called for decisive action to address and mitigate the effects.
The year 2024 has seen record-breaking temperatures, severe droughts, and devastating floods, exacerbating vulnerabilities and threatening livelihoods.
CAMIC emphasised that there is the need for implementing effective strategies to help communities adapt and thrive in the face of these challenges.

The body in a statement signed by its Chief Growth Officer, Pius Alabi on Thursday, revealed that the body is launching localized programs aimed at enhancing community resilience.
The programmes according to the advocacy body would include education and awareness campaigns, innovative technology solutions, youth engagement and leadership.
“These programs will focus on sustainable agricultural practices, water conservation techniques, and disaster preparedness training to equip communities with the tools needed to withstand climate extremes.
“As we confront the reality of extreme climate change, it is imperative that we take proactive steps to protect our communities and our planet.
“Our initiatives are designed to build resilience, foster innovation, and empower individuals and communities to adapt and thrive despite the challenges posed by climate change,” the statement read.
