Businessman drags associate to court over alleged N85,000 fertilizer scam

A businessman, Abdulrahman Abdullahi on Thursday, dragged his business partner, Ibrahim Mustapha, before a Sharia Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, over alleged N85,000 fertilizer scam.
The Prosecutor, Insp, Ibrahim Shuaibu, told the court that the complainant, Abdullahi, who resides at Badarawa area, had reported the matter at the Police area command in Kakuri.
“He reported that in July 2022, the defendant had collected N85,000 from him with the agreement that he would deliver 15 bags of fertilizer dust.
“He failed to deliver the goods and also refused to refund the money. All efforts made by the complainant to recover his money proved abortive,” the prosecutor said.
Shuaibu added that the defendant also allegedly threatened to deal with the complainant if the latter persisted on the matter.
However, the defendant denied the charges of cheating and threatening Abdullahi.
According to him, the goods had been booked and paid for but the fertilizer company had failed to supply the goods till date.
The judge, Malam Rilwanu Kyaudai, granted the defendant bail on condition that he provided a reliable surety and adjourned the matter until Nov. 24 for the complainant to present his witnesses.
