No fewer than 300 farmers from host communities around the operations of BUA Cement in Wamakko Local Government Area have begun receiving agricultural inputs under the company’s Sustainable Livelihood Restoration Programme.

The initiative, which targets farmers affected by the company’s expansion activities, is expected to benefit about 1,500 people across the affected communities.

Speaking during the distribution exercise on Thursday, the Chairman of Wamakko Local Government Area, Umar Mohammed, commended the company for supporting farmers in the area.

He urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the inputs to improve agricultural productivity and boost food production in the local government.

Managing Director of BUA Cement, Yusuf Binji, represented by the Director of Corporate Affairs Services, Sada Sulaiman, said the intervention was aimed at restoring the livelihoods of farmers displaced by the company’s operations.

Also speaking, the Assistant Director, Health, Community Safety and Environment at the company, Ali Gumel, said the distribution marked the start of the agricultural support component of the programme.

He added that the initiative was designed to help affected farmers continue their farming activities and improve their productivity.
