To support the tree planting campaign, the governor instructed the employment of youths across the state to nurture nursery plants for the required number of trees.
He also directed chairmen of all the 20 local government areas and traditional rulers to embark on aggressive tree-planting campaigns to save the environment.
The commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, said the exercise is a roadside plantation covering over 12 kilometres from Miri to Mobile Filing station on both sides of the road.
He added that similar trees will be planted from Awalah Roundabout to Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, covering a distance of 22 kilometres.
