Autolady Engineering to Train 1000 Nigerians in Autogas Conversion
Autolady Engineering Technology Limited is taking significant steps to mitigate the adverse impact of fuel subsidy removal by offering training on autogas conversion to Nigerians.
The firm’s subsidiary, Autogas Nigeria, plans to train 1000 technicians and non-technicians nationwide in converting petrol vehicles to gas-powered engines.
Joyce Daser-Adams, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the firm, expressed this commitment during an interview with Newsmen in Abuja on Saturday.
She reassured that this training initiative aligns with the Nigerian government’s Autogas policy, which aims to achieve a Net-zero carbon reduction agenda by 2060.
Daser-Adams highlighted the belief that by the year 2030, widespread adoption of cars running on gas will significantly contribute to mitigating the impact of climate change and support the targets of the national gas Expansion Programme.
The training sessions, set to take place across the country, will kick off with a one-week intensive program in Lagos State, catering to both experienced and inexperienced technicians.
Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in workshop attachments to further enhance their professional proficiency and earn relevant certifications.
The training aims to empower technicians with the technical know-how to safely perform autogas conversions using Compressed Natural Gas, a more affordable alternative in the face of rising fuel costs.
In her call for collaboration, Daser-Adams urged the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), an agency for the automotive sector, to support Autolady Engineering’s initiative.
This collaboration would help reduce the cost of training technicians and providing conversion kits, benefiting average Nigerians.
Notably, in 2021, Autolady Engineering collaborated with other technical partners to train over 150 technicians across the country in autogas conversion.
The firm also extended its services to convert vehicles for several organizations, including the Nigerian Police Force, COREN, NNPC, and others, free of charge.
For interested auto mechanics and automobile technicians in Nigeria, the firm has already opened its portal for registration, and the training sessions are set to commence in September.
Autolady Engineering’s commitment to training technicians on autogas conversion represents a proactive approach towards mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
By empowering technicians with the necessary skills, the firm aims to support the nation’s transition to a greener and more sustainable future.
Collaboration from relevant authorities and agencies will be instrumental in achieving this goal and making the initiative accessible to a broader spectrum of Nigerians.
