At NatureNews anniversary, Emir of Dutse urges quick action in fighting climate change

The Emir of Dutse and Chancellor, Sokoto State University, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, has called on the world leaders and appropriate bodies to take a swift action towards combating impact of climate change in order to eradicate the threat of human survival and the environment at large.
Sanusi, who was the Chairman of the first anniversary lecture of “NatureNews’’ online environment newspaper and unveiling of “ClimateAfrica” magazine as well as presentation of Hero of Environment Actions for Development (HEAD) award made this call in his opening remarks.
While blaming the situation on both human factors and natural disaster, he said most of these disasters must be eliminated by completely putting a stop to general abuse of the environment like indiscriminate disposal of industrial waste, air and water pollution, and unethical dumping of refuse.
He advised that any initiative geared towards mitigating impact of climate change should be fully embraced by the Nigerian government and Africa as a whole.
According to the Emir, it is the obligations of leaders and their followers to nurture the environment protect Mother Earth and make it favorable for living and food production.
Sanusi lauded NatureNews newspaper and ClimateAfrica magazine for creating a platform to address the issue of climate change and creating awareness through the media.
