Another fire guts petrol station

By Nneka Nwogwugwu

Petrol station, shops and a tanker are on Nnewi-Nnobi Road, Nnewi, Anambra state have been engulfed in fire on Friday.
NatureNews learnt that the fire broke at 8:00am.
Those on scene said the fire was caused by a diesel laden tanker which was offloading content into a small tanker.
It was said that the generator hose used for the transfer pulled out and the diesel spilled on the generator resulting in the accident.
Efforts to quench the fire with handheld fire extinguishers were unsuccessful as the diesel flowed along the drain consuming things on its path.
The fire was quenched by firefighters who arrived the scene in time.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Organizer Oil and Gas Ltd, Nnewi, who visited the scene said, “I came in solidarity and to ensure that the fire is completely put out.
“I must confess that I’m highly impressed by the youths who trooped out in their numbers to help fight the fire.
“I don’t think the problem is sighting petrol station near residential houses, because even if a filling station is in an evil forest, buildings would soon spring up there. Caution should rather be applied in managing patrol stations, not the site.”
