In a resolute declaration, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has left no room for ambiguity in his expectations for the leadership and employees of the FCT Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
Minister Wike who emphasized this recently, stated that their collective responsibility to shape Abuja according to their vision, regardless of the challenges they may encounter.
Minister Wike underscored that accountability rests squarely on the shoulders of the management and staff.
He firmly stressed that transforming Abuja is a collective duty, and he encouraged those unable to meet these expectations to step aside for those who can.
He reminded everyone that holding such roles is a privilege, and he remains unwavering in his commitment to advancing progress without hindrance.
Furthermore, Wike reaffirmed his dedication to financing short-term projects within the secretariat, departments, and agencies under his jurisdiction. This financial support aims to validate their commitment to bringing about tangible change.
In line with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” vision, Minister Wike emphasized the importance of teamwork in turning this shared objective into reality.
At the core of his message was the notion that responsibilities demand unwavering dedication to the right path. Wike’s primary goal is to restore Abuja to its original design and intent.
He addressed the issue of areas in Abuja plunged into darkness, pledging swift action to restore light to these regions.
Amid these goals, Wike prioritized the importance of maintaining a pristine environment.
He emphasized the need for vigilance and responsibility within the sanitation department, making it clear that his support is readily available.
Wike’s unwavering commitment to action shone through as he pledged to address the proliferation of motor parks, promising decisive measures and substantial change. “We must set a standard and adhere to it,” he stressed.
The minister expressed concerns about the security and criminal implications of street trading and voiced his determination to address this issue, even if it involves making tough decisions. Upholding regulations, even in challenging times, is a matter of principle for Wike.
The challenge of illegal structures and shanties also drew Wike’s attention. He questioned their prevalence and signaled his unwavering intention to dismantle them, regardless of the individuals involved.
