The United Bank of Africa (UBA) on Monday emerged as the winner of NatureNews Hero of Environmental Action for Development (HEAD) Climate Financing Award for the year 2023.
NatureNews HEAD Award is a yearly event instituted by the media organisation to revonize individuals, institutions and corporate organisations that distinguished themselves as a strong supporter of environmental issues particularly those that develop innovative solutions for climate change
UBA is found to be one among the financial institutions in the forefront of the ‘ war ‘ against effect of climate change and environmental sustainability in Nigeria and other African countries where it has strong presence.
Founded in 1949, UBA has since grown into a prominent banking group in Africa. It was found out that UBA has its operations in over 20 African countries and contributed immensely into protection of the environment.
Checks into the bank’s contribution towards enabling environment shows that the bank has made tremendous contributions to developing innovative solutions for climate change mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable environment where its branches were situated. It is on this note that the UBA was honoured by the NatureNews.
