Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL) has announced plans to introduce three electric hybrid vehicles to the Nigerian market.
The three environment friendly cars are Toyota Cross, RAV 4 and Land Cruiser Prado hybrid electric vehicles.
The announcement was made by TNL’s Managing Director, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, at the inaugural Toyota Motor Show in Lagos noting that introduction of these vehicles aligned with the Federal Government’s green initiative. They are to be fully available in the next three years.
According to Ade-Ojo, the Toyota Cross, RAV4, and Land Cruiser is expected to revolutionize the Nigerian automotive industry, which has traditionally been dominated by fossil fuel-powered vehicles.
The Toyota Motor Show showcased the company’s range of vehicles, including the newly unveiled Belta and Rumion models, provided a platform for customers to engage with the TNL team and experience the hybrid electric vehicles first-hand.
The event also highlighted TNL’s commitment to after-sales service, spare parts availability, and body and paint services.
Ade-Ojo expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcome, noting that customers showed significant interest in the after-sales area and free diagnosis services.
The introduction of hybrid electric vehicles is expected to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation in Nigeria.
In a related development, TNL announced its partnership with the Federal Government to support the conversion of vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable transportation.
With this move, TNL is poised to lead the electric vehicle revolution in Nigeria, setting a precedent for other automotive companies to follow.
“As the country transition towards a more sustainable future, Toyota’s hybrid electric vehicles are expected to play a significant role in reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation,” Ade-Ojo noted.
