Many shanties have been razed by fire at the Ondo-Ibadan axis of the Okobaba sawmill, Ebute Meta, Lagos State.
According to the Punch, the fire incident occurred on Tuesday after fire started in one of the shanties but spread to others in the area.
An eyewitness stated that residents of the area tried to put off the fire when it started but all to no avail.
It was also learnt that attempts by firefighters and residents to douse the fire had yet to yield any result as of the time of filing this report.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, residents of nearby buildings have started evacuating their properties, Naturenews gathered.
