SGF lauds Adamu over passion towards sustainable development

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, has described the Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman H. Adamu, as perspicacious, having insight not only in engineering but also in his passion towards change and sustainable development that made the Federal Executive Council (FEC), prioritize action on the water and sanitation sector.

Mustapha said this as the management and staff of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, its agencies, development partners and stakeholders in the water sector organized a dinner in honour of the outgoing Adamu.

The occasion was witnessed by eminent personalities including the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Folashade Yemi-Esan, royal fathers like the Emir of Kazuare and the elder brother of the minister, His Royal Highness Najib Hussein Adamu and the Amanayambo of Toun- Brass His Royal Highness Alfred Diete Spiff, senior government officials, management and staff of the ministry, stakeholders and development partners, contractors, family members and other well wishers too numerous to mention.

The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, said Adamu came to the ministry with focus and clear vision full of commitment and determination to succeed in the water sector.

Didi Walson-Jack highlighted values and principles, drive and commitment as well as punctuality as the unprecedented attributes of the minister that helped him to transform the water sector to an enviable position it is today.

According to the Permanent Secretary, numerous initiatives championed by Engr. Adamu, his Charisma, private sector’s experience and educational background spurred him in his duties to succeed as a 2- term Honourable Minister of Water Resources.

She stressed that Adamu indeed had laid a solid foundation suitable for the Ministry to build on.

The minister was also applauded and appreciated for his numerous contributions to the growth of the water sector since he assumed office over seven years ago by dignitaries, family members, friends and well wishers present at the dinner as a core professional with a clear cut strategy for the water sector.

Adamu in an emotion-laden mood in his response appreciated the kind gesture of the dignitaries, the development partners, his family members, the entire staffers of the ministry and everyone that graced the occasion for the wonderful show of love in organizing such an event to honour him.

He stressed that on assumption of duty as Minister of Water Resources in 2015, he made it clear that he was out to do his job professionally and in the course of doing that, was not prepared to bend the rules in getting things done.

He charged the next water resources minister to take the water sector to the next level.
