The torrential downpour of rainfall in Abbi and Ozoro communities in Delta State on Monday night wreaked disaster with no fewer than sixty houses destroyed in Abi while streets in Ozoro community became inaccessible.
Apart from the residential buildings that were destroyed, the economic crops of the people completely swept away into nearby rivers.
Investigation revealed that the destruction was as a result of a wind/ rainstorm that ravaged the Communities, and was subsequently reported to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) by the member representing Ndokwa West Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Mr Charles Emetulu.
Swiftly, SEMA officials led by the Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Mr Omamofe Pirah who was represented by the Director, State Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA) , Mr Karo Ovemeso however assured the community that the emergency management agency will report to the state government for prompt intervention even as he consoled them on their losses
Further investigation revealed that among properties destroyed by the rainstorm include: Abbi police station, a fish and plantain farm belonging to one Mr Ochonogor, among several other facilities identified by the SEMA officials.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Mr Edmund Knight, further took the SEMA team around the station, where it was discovered that the rainstorm wreaked havoc on the water station, the electricity transformers and a member of economic trees.
