Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential Spokesperson, has revealed an ambitious plan spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu to establish a significant number of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations during the initial phase of his administration.
Ngelale shared this information on Wednesday,during a conversation with journalists on the TVC show, Journalists Hangout.
In collaboration with the indigenous company NIPCO, the Federal Government is set to embark on this transformative project. NIPCO is already well-known for its presence with 14 CNG filling stations across Nigeria.
The upcoming endeavor seeks to expand the network of CNG stations nationwide to address the increasing demand for cleaner and more sustainable fuel alternatives.
Ngelale highlighted the urgency and significance of this initiative, emphasizing that the project’s timeline is geared towards a swift implementation.
He stated, “They already have 14 CNG filling stations across the country, there is a plan to create at least 56 CNG Stations More in phase 1, because this is time-based and the President understands the urgency.”
This endeavor aligns with a broader vision for promoting cleaner energy alternatives and reducing the reliance on traditional fossil fuels.
Ngelale indicated that the government’s commitment extends not only to electric vehicle production and distribution but also to vehicles fueled by CNG.
Both the supply and demand sides of CNG-fueled vehicles will be addressed through this comprehensive approach.
The establishment of an increased number of CNG stations is a strategic move to foster sustainable energy practices while simultaneously meeting the transportation needs of the population.
