One of Port Harcourt’s oldest building named “the colonial building” has collapsed on Wednesday.
The three storey building is situated at No. 112 Bende Street in old Port Harcourt township, Rivers State.
NatureNews gathered from eye witness that the building was constructed over seven decades ago and has been in a deplorable state for the past four years.
One of the eyewitness who spoke to NatureNews in anonymity, affirmed that this is not the first time the building collapsed.
The source stated that when part of the building collapsed the first time, occupants were warned to keep away from the facility but they ignored it.
The source also confirmed that no life was lost just as there were no occupant in the building.
It was learnt that officials of the Ministry of Urban Development and Physical Planning are currently working with the owners of the property to pull it down completely to forestall any further disaster.
