The Bauchi State Police Command has partnered with the Bauchi State Government to launch a large-scale tree planting initiative aimed at addressing pressing ecological challenges and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

The ambitious project, which involves the planting of 1000 trees across various police formations, underscores the police force’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community welfare.

According to the Police Commissioner, Auwal Musa Mohammed, the initiative is a strategic partnership between the police and the state government to combat deforestation and promote environmental sustainability.

“Our environment is a collective responsibility, and as a police force, we are committed to not only ensuring the safety and security of our citizens but also to preserving and safeguarding our natural surroundings,” Mohammed emphasized.

The tree planting campaign, which was launched at the Police Officers’ Mess in Bauchi, will encompass the state headquarters, all Area Commands, the Police Mobile Force (10 PMF) Base, and the Divisional Police Headquarters across the state.

The Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, commended the police for their leadership and dedication to the cause, highlighting the importance of planting more trees in communities to mitigate the impact of climate change.

To encourage accountability and pride in the maintenance of the green spaces, the state government has offered a reward to any Divisional Headquarters that effectively tends to and nurtures the trees in their surroundings.

The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s efforts to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability.

The partnership between the police and the state government is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing ecological challenges.

By working together, the police and the government aim to create a safer and more sustainable environment for citizens and to serve as a role model for others to follow.
