The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Adamawa State has pledged its dedication to supporting government initiatives by launching a reforestation campaign to combat deforestation and global warming.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Muhd Lawan Ahmed, revealed this during his speech at the commencement ceremony of 1023 2024 Batch B stream 1 corps members. He urged all stakeholders to participate in this noble cause.
The NYSC state coordinator described Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as the most NYSC-friendly governor in the country.
He commended the governor for being recognized as the top governor in infrastructure development for the second time, attributing it to his purposeful leadership.
Lawan expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for acknowledging the crucial role played by corps members in society and his consistent support through enhanced feeding of corps members and officials, as well as the monthly payment of 10,000 naira to corps members, renovation of camp facilities, among other initiatives.
In the mean time, Lawan encouraged the corps members to engage in healthy interactions, foster friendships, promote peace and unity, and take preventive measures against cholera, as their well-being is essential to the success of the program.
While welcoming corps members to Adamawa State, Governor Fintiri informed them that the state remains one of the most peaceful states in the country despite having over 80 ethnic groups and other social disparities, urging them to prioritize security consciousness.
Fintiri reiterated the government’s resolve to continue paying 10,000 naira monthly to corps members serving in the state and 20,000 naira to those teaching in government schools upon completing their service year, along with other incentives introduced to ensure the program’s success in the state.
He highlighted his administration’s accomplishments in infrastructure, education, health, security, and human development, which he believes will make their service year unforgettable.
The oath of allegiance was administered to the 1023 corps members by the State Chief Judge, Barr Hafsat Abdulrahman.
