NUJ implores FG to provide low-cost housing for journalists

Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has implored the Federal Government to provide Low-Cost Housing Estates to practising journalists across the country.

Hide original message This was contained in a Communiqué issued at the end of NUJ Quarterly Congress held Weekend at the Press Centre, Jalingo.

In the Communiqué, signed by its Drafting Committee Chairman, Tanko Kaura, Congress saw the accommodation challenges faced by media practitioners across the country hence the need for the request.

In a view to tackling the high rate of insecurity across the state and the nation at large, the Congress through the communiqué, charged the Taraba State Government to step up measures aimed at protecting the lives and property of the people of the state.

Taraba NUJ also urged the government of the state to provide trackers to security agents to enable them to track down the activities of criminal elements terrorising the lives of innocent citizens in the state.

The communiqué further showcased the members commending the leadership of the state council of NUJ for coming up with a laudable initiative that will move the Union forward.

According to the communiqué, Congress also adopted the motion for the implementation of a welfare scheme for members of the union.

“Congress applauded the Taraba State government for the employment of media workers and further commended the state government for including the renovation of the Press Centre in the 2021 state budget.”
