The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) in collaboration with the Union of African Shippers’ Councils is set to host the 9th African Shippers’ Day in Lagos from Monday 16th – Wednesday 18th, January 2023.
The theme of the event, which is expected to be declared open by President Muhammadu Buhari, is ‘African Continental Free Trade Agreement: A veritable platform for African Shippers to mainstream into global trade’.
The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azuJaji Sambo, is the chief host of the event.
Initiated in 1999 within the framework of refocusing the missions of African Shippers’ Councils, the African Shippers’ Day is undoubtedly a platform for reflection and exchange on diverse issues relating to maritime transport and international trade.
The eighth(8th) edition of the African Shippers’ Day was hosted by the Ghana Shippers Authority in Accra from 22nd-24th November, 2017.

The Ghana Shippers’ Authority, under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport, is the current Chairman of the Union of African Shippers’ Councils in West and Central Africa (UASC).
The 19 member countries of the UASC are committed to the Trade Facilitation Agreement, and most of these countries have ratified the Agreement in their respective countries including Ghana.
