NIMASA, Navy Move To Tackle Illegal Fishing On Nigerian Waters

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and the Nigerian Navy have discussed ways to tackle illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing on Nigerian Maritime space.

The discussions took place when the Director General of the NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh OFR paid a working visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral E. I. Ogala, at the weekend.

The visit was announced on NIMASA’s official X handle on Sunday. It said the aim is to deepen the relationship between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy for the collective good of the Nigerian Maritime industry.

“The DG NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh OFR paid a working visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral E. I. Ogala in a quest to deepen the relationship between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy for the collective good of the Nigerian Maritime industry.

“They discussed areas of collaboration to ensure the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in creating the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry are achieved in good time.

“The issue of illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing was discussed and they are exploring new vistas to ensure Nigerians enjoy the benefits of natural resources in the maritime industry,” the NIMASA stated.
