Nigerian government, through the Ministry of Environment, is set to host a technical demonstration showcasing the conversion of plastic waste into Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD).

The one-day workshop, organized in collaboration with Premium Blue Economy, will take place on October 28, 2025, at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, Green Building, Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja.

The event is part of the broader Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, focusing on climate action, clean energy transition, and circular economy development that are being strategically implemented by the Ministry of Environment, headed by Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal.

According to the Ministry, the initiative aims to tackle the escalating challenge of plastic pollution by introducing cutting-edge pyrolysis and refining technologies that can convert plastic waste into clean-burning diesel fuel.

The process not only mitigates environmental hazards but also contributes to energy security and economic empowerment.

“This demonstration is a practical step toward a greener economy and a cleaner Nigeria,” the Ministry stated, adding that “it offers a viable solution to plastic waste while producing an alternative energy source in line with global sustainability goals.”

NatureNews learnt exclusively that the workshop will serve as a platform for policy dialogue, strategic partnerships, and knowledge sharing between government officials, industry leaders, environmental experts, and the media.

Invitations have been extended to key stakeholders, including Nature News, African’s foremost independent environmental newspaper, to ensure broad engagement and awareness.

Scheduled to begin at 10 o’clock, the event is expected to draw participation from environmental advocacy groups, technology providers, investors, and researchers.
