The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has announced that Nigeria is prepared to host 5,000 participants from at least 53 countries as the fifth Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) begins on Sunday in Abuja.
Sylva disclosed this on Friday at a press briefing in Abuja, he noted that the summit would have 11 plenary sessions, seven breakout sessions, four special presentations, three cocktail receptions, award/gala dinner, and signing of pacts as well as side events.
“We have had interesting outcomes from the summit. They have been embraced by the government, policymakers and the industry as a whole,” he said.
The minister noted that some of the milestones of the summit in the last five years included Nigeria’s Decade of Gas Initiative and the United States Trade Development Agency (USTDA) signing a deal to finance 1.35 megawatts power plant in Abuja with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at the summit.
The summit known, as the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) when it started in 2018, is a federal government official energy industry event.
