New report says China emits more greenhouse gasses than all other developed nations combined
New research shows that China is responsible for 27 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2019, which is more than all of the developed nations combined.
The Rhodium Group, one of the leading independent research providers, concluded that China is now emitting triple the amount of gas as it was three decades ago, according to the BBC.
According to the firm, the U.S. is the second-largest emitter, responsible for 11 percent of the world’s greenhouse gases, followed by India in third place, making up up about 7 percent.

Scientists warn that it will be hard to avert dangerous climate change without the cooperation of China, which has the world’s largest population. although its per-person emissions are less than the U.S. Last month, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry went to China to meet with fellow diplomats to discuss ways of combating climate change.
China has said it is committed to fighting climate change, vowing to reach a net-zero emission by 2060, a 30-year difference from President Biden’s 2030 goal. In a move that surprised many, President Xi Jinping also joined Biden’s virtual climate change summit in April.
“This major strategic decision is made based on our sense of responsibility to build a community with a shared future for mankind and our own need to secure sustainable development,” President Xi said.
