Nestlé Nigeria Plc has begun efforts to preserve cultural heritage by planting trees in some communities in Lagos. In doing this, the company joined effort with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.
Marking the World Safety Day 2021, Nestlé embarks on Tree planting projects with the theme: “Restoring ecosystems”.
NAN gathered that the event began on Friday with a tree planting exercise at the African Church Primary School, Ifako Ijaiye, in Lagos State.
The Director of sanitation services at the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Dr Hassan Sanuth, while speaking at the event, said the program was important.
“This event is created to leave a mega plea on the importance of nature in relation to the survival of humanity on earth.
“The theme represents an opportunity for us to reflect on man’s activities in nature and how this has negatively affected the environment.
“This opens up possibilities for how we can act to make sure we improve the situation and restore the environment to serve us better,” he added.
