The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has empowered dry season farmers with inputs and equipment in Gombe State so as to improve their productivity.
The donation, which took place in Gombe at the weekend, included items like 500 pieces of 3-inch water pumps, 5,000 liters of liquid urea, and 7,000 liters of agrochemicals.
Acting Coordinator of NEDC in the state, Alhaji Rufa’i Baba-Manu, noted that the gesture aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration focus on increasing food production and addressing food insecurity in the country.
He said the commission was looking towards enhance dry season farming collaborating with the state government and other stakeholders to provide direct support to farmers.
Baba-Manu advised beneficiaries to make good use of the items for their intended purpose.
On his part, Commissioner for Agriculture, Gombe State, Dr. Barnabas Malle, commended the commission for the donation, stating that the items will enhance crop production in the state.
The commissioner who was represented by Jonathan Bulus, noted that the donation was timely as it coincides dry season farming in the state and advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.
