Commissioner in charge of energy from the 36 stayed of the federation have converged on Maiduguri, Borno State, for the 2025 National Council on Power (NACOP) to fashion out bold reforms for Nigeria’s struggling power sector.

Held from May 26 to 30 at the Government House’s Multipurpose Hall, the summit now in its sixth edition is convened by the Federal Ministry of Power under Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

This year’s theme, “Consolidating Reforms for a Sustainable Energy Future in Nigeria,” reflects rising national urgency to overhaul electricity systems and expand access.

The event serves as a crucial meeting point for policy makers, state actors, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and propose practical solutions to longstanding challenges in electricity generation, distribution, and governance.

As states seek to expand rural electrification and stabilize supply, NACOP offers an opportunity to align state and federal strategies for maximum impact.

Discussions are expected to focus on integrated reforms, infrastructure investment, and the transition to cleaner energy sources.

With mounting pressure to deliver reliable electricity to all Nigerians, this year’s NACOP could mark a turning point in how the country tackles its energy crisis.
