More encomiums trail NatureNews’ global rating as Africa’s No. 1

Encomiums have continued to trail the news of the global rating of NatureNews as Africa’s number one nature publication and one of the top 12 in the world.

The news, which broke last week Monday as the World Environment Day was being marked globally, has elicited positive reactions from veteran journalists, corporate chieftains, academics, and stakeholders in the environment space.

Akogun Isiaq Ajibola

In his message of felicitations, the President/CEO of CBD Media Edge Limited, Akogun Isiaq Ajibola, commended the management and staff for phenomenal rise of NatureNews as a global media brand.

Akogun Ajibola, who was Managing Director of Media Trust Limited (publishers of Daily Trust titles), said the feat attained by NatureNews is encouraging and should spur other Nigerian media to aspire to global prominence.

Similarly, the National President of Oro Community, Professor James Bababode Bojuwoye described the global rating of NatureNews as a welcome development.

Prof. Bojuwoye who was Chief Medical Director of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, expressed the happiness of Traditional Council and People of Oro, in Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara State saying the Community shares in the glory earned by own of its sons.

In another message addressed to the Publisher, a former Managing Director of NUB International Bank, Alhaji Danjuma Ocholi, said NatureNews is a unique product borne out of “a strategic thinking process”.

He said with the global rating, NatureNews has become a game changer not only in Nigeria and Africa but in the entire world.

He commended the NatureNews team for raising the bar and making Nigeria proud, stressing that the recognition is an honour to Nigeria, and indeed Africa.

In his congratulatory message, an environmentalist, Mr. Akinde Abraham Olujimi said since zero is recognised as a number, “NatureNews has taken the zeroth position in Africa and 11th position in the world”.

Mr. Olujimi who is Executive Director of Waste Management Initiative said the rating is a rare achievement. “It is a source of encouragement for us to continue doing our best even if it appears as if we are not being taken note of”, he said.

A former Commissioner for Commerce and Investment, Nasarawa State, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, described the recognition as highly deserved “considering the unique differentiation of NatureNews as a media brand in the thematic area of environment Journalism”.

He described the recognition as a stepping stone to the litany of successes, honours, recognition and more awards that would come the way of NatureNews in the years ahead.

Reacting to the news, a renowned training consultant and public speaker, Pastor Abiodun Fijabi described the global rating of NatureNews as amazing.

He said he was proud of the team that made it happen within a short period, adding that this is “the way to go”.

Prof. Ahmad Adam Okene

The Provost of the National Defence College (NDC), Prof. Ahmad Adam Okene has expressed felicitations to the management and staff of NatureNews.

Prof. Adam, who was the Dean of Post Graduate Studies, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), said the recognition is highly commendable.

“To have been rated so high meant that NatureNews has been covering its mandates satisfactorily and adequately”, he said.

Dr. Lanre Tanimola

Also commenting on the rating, a US-based nanotechnology engineer and founder of Nanoswitch Inc., Dr. Lanre Tanimola, said the top rating of NatureNews is not surprising.

He said the newspaper has carved a niche for itself as the go-to platform for credible news and informed commentary on environmental issues.
