Lekki Port Announces 6,076 TEUs In 2023

Lekki Port has announced that it processed 6,076 TEUs of transshipment containers in 2023, less than one year after it started operations.

It said ship calls at the Port was up by 6.5% with export boxes up from 156,790 to 226,456 TEUs.

In a post on the X verified handle of the Nigeria Ports Authority, the Lekki Port also said it achieved a revenue of ₦500 billion, thus increasing the agency’s contribution to the Consolidated Revenue Fund CRF of the federal government by 26%.

It said: “The year 2023 was phenomenal in many ways; our ship calls increased by 6.5% compared to the preceding year. A lot more revenue was generated from barge operations, transshipment and from the streamlined export processes. Export boxes went up from 156,790 to 226,456 TEUs.

“This led to an increase in revenue to over ₦500 billion, and contribution to the Consolidated Revenue Fund increased by 26%, from ₦91 billion to ₦131 billion.

“The Lekki deep seaport processed 6,076 TEUs (Twenty Foot Units Equivalent) of transshipment containers in less than one year a market share that Nigeria had lost completely to the neighbouring countries.”
