The popular Ladipo Market in Mushin has been reopened by the Lagos State Government after fulfilling the key environmental requirements for doing so.

This was revealed in a statement released on Monday by Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources.

Wahab announced that after the well-known spare parts market was shut down due to a number of environmental violations, commercial operations would resume there.

Wahab highlighted that in accordance with the THEMES Plus strategy, the government of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the issue of a clean environment, public health, and safety top priority.

He claimed that this was the driving cause behind the state’s recent initiative to require rigorous adherence to waste management best practices across all the Lagos markets.

The Managing Director of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, also commented on the market’s reopening and underlined the Authority’s commitment to environmental sustainability and public safety, particularly in markets and around commercial facilities.

The objective, according to Gbadegesin, is to make sure that all marketplaces in Lagos State abide by established environmental guidelines, creating a safer and healthier working environment for buyers and sellers.

He asked the businesspeople to assist the state government’s efforts by scrupulously upholding the environmental regulations because a market that violates them risks the possibility of being permanently closed.

According to reports, the state government reopened the Mile 12 International Market early today after fulfilling the necessary requirements.
