In a concerted effort to promote public health and safety standards, the Lagos State Government recently organized a weekend sensitization campaign targeting market individuals and women.

Led by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, the campaign focused on imparting crucial knowledge about hygiene, food storage, and safety practices.

Commissioner Olusanya reiterated the government’s commitment to equipping market traders with essential skills aligned with the vision of a modern, 21st-century Lagos.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene in trading, selling, and merchandising, she highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the food fair aimed at educating market women on various aspects including hygiene, food safety, preservation, storage, marketing, and transportation.

The initiative comes on the heels of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s announcement of a significant financial intervention scheme, the ‘Lagos Trader Money’, which earmarks N750 million to support traders across the state.

This scheme, set to provide N50,000 each to 15,000 traders spanning 200 local government areas, aims to inject vital capital into their businesses, fostering growth and sustainability.

In furtherance of this commitment, Commissioner Olusanya announced the imminent commencement of the disbursement process under the Lagos Market Trader Money initiative.

Starting from February 14th, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will oversee the distribution of N50,000 cash transfers to 15,000 deserving beneficiaries, empowering them to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the economic prosperity of Lagos State.
