Kwara State Government has announced a monthly sanitation exercise, scheduled to commence on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Residents are urged to actively engage in this initiative for the collective well-being of the community.
Yakub Kamaldeen, the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, emphasized the importance of residents’ active involvement in the sanitation exercise.
The monthly routine, running from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, mandates residents to clean both residential and business spaces.
To facilitate this, there will be a complete suspension of vehicular and human movement throughout the state during the two-hour duration.
Security and monitoring personnel will be strategically placed across the state to ensure compliance with regulations and to oversee the efficient implementation of the sanitation program.
Waste Management vehicles will be deployed to assist in gathering and disposing of waste at designated locations in the city.
A stern reminder is issued against improper waste disposal on pedestrian walkways, road dividers, drainages, canals, and other unauthorized areas, emphasizing that such actions are legally punishable.
The statement also cautions against obstructing government officials during the cleaning activity, with legal consequences for those attempting to impede the process.
The Kwara State Government calls on the public to cooperate fully, emphasizing that the success of the sanitation exercise is crucial for creating a cleaner and healthier living environment for all residents.
