Residents of Kogi State have lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo administration for their dedication to enhancing cleanliness and environmental health in the state.
The ongoing sanitation drive, initiated under the commissioner of environment and ecological management, Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun, receives accolades for its potential to attract investors and propel economic and social progress. Citizens express gratitude for the visible improvements, citing reduced waterway blockages and a transformed urban landscape.
Stakeholders, including traders and residents, commend the leadership’s commitment to fostering a sustainable and pollution-free environment, underscoring the importance of ongoing efforts in promoting overall well-being and development in Kogi State.
A resident of the state, Mr Oguma Haruna said: “Before now, when rain intensifies we experience blockage in our waterways due to improper waste disposal in the drainages but with the progress of work done from Kpata down to International market, the drainages have been distilled allowing for free flow of water thereby preventing issues relating to bad road network, pollution and flooding.”
A Fish Seller along Kpata road Mrs Comfort Abale, expressed appreciation to the state government for the sanitation exercise.
“We thank God for the ododo’s led administration, we thank God for the Commissioner for Environment, work is going on smoothly, lokoja is wearing a new look and we are happy,” She said.

According to her: “I have not seen a leader with such exemplary traits, he is here on a daily basis burning through hours ensuring that job is been done effectively. It is obvious that he is dedicated to his work and he is not here to play.”
She added that the commissioner is the best person for the job because of his commitment to maintaining a clean environment which is essential for the state cleanup.
