Nyandarua County residents in Kenya has been urged to ensure that all households are connected and have access to the water supply center.
The former Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary, Sicily Kariuki advised on Thursday while inspecting the Sh 200 million water project in Nyandarua County.
The ongoing project that is over 90 percent complete was commissioned through the National Irrigation Authority.
“ I have inspected the ongoing works and I want to assure residents that all of them will have access to water in two months,” Kariuki said.
According to Kariuki, the project was to be completed last year but leadership wrangles among its community management committee derailed it, KNA said.
Kariuki said households beneficiaries could practice smart farming through irrigation.
“This is one of the government promises to make sure that there was food security as stipulated in the big four. That is why the national government intervened and pumped in money for the completion of this project,” she said.
She added that the government had allocated an additional Sh11 million for water connectivity to reach many families.
