During a recent state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Umar Dikko Radda at the Government House in Katsina State, the decision was made to allocate N74.5 billion for the construction of nine new roads within the state capital.
The Commissioner of Works, Housing, and Transport, Engr Sani Magaji Ingawa, shared that the goal is to enhance urban infrastructure and promote business activities across the city.
The projects, part of the governor’s urban renewal programme, have been awarded to the Chinese company CCECC with an anticipated completion timeline of two years.
In a press statement signed by the governor’s chief press secretary, Ibrahim Muhammed Kaula, the roads were earmarked for development.
These include the construction of the eastern bypass, dualisation of roads from Katsina Central Mosque through various routes, and extension of dualisation from various locations.
The commissioner emphasized that two of the nine roads will be prioritized in the first phase, alongside the Kofar Soro to Kofar Guga road approved by the previous administration.
The first phase roads include the eastern bypass from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) to Yandaki and Central Mosque-Kiddies to WTC Roundabout.
The state government’s commitment to urban infrastructure development is expected to bring significant improvements to the transportation network and overall quality of life within the state capital.
