In improving sanitation and to promote a healthy lifestyle, the Kano State Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje has organised a waste management program in 11 Metropolitan Local Government areas for converting huge waste Biogas to general Electricity
The Governor was speaking on the backdrop of poor waste management, the challenge it poses and the need for a sustainable solution to refuse for Kano city.
Ganduje said the state has been deliberating on a Mega-City development project but the challenge of waste management has hampered the dream of achieving it.
According to Daily Post report, the Governor said the effect of poor waste management was all over Kano, leading to devastating health conditions such as cancer and similar health complications, costing the government huge sums of money.
The Chief Executive Officer of Cape Gate Group, Alhaji Bashir Namadina while presenting his data collection on Waste Management to the State Government, said the Solid waste management program is for 11 Metropolitan Local Government Area of the State.
“We are starting the waste management program in 11 Metropolitan Local Government areas to convert huge waste Biogas to general Electricity and already we are employing 4300 indigent when we are fully through.”
