IDAN calls for professionalism in interior design, interior architecture

The founder of Interior Designers Association of Nigeria (IDAN), a non- governmental organization Ms. Titi Ogufere has called for stringent tasks for professionals to raise and uphold professional standard and reputation as interior designers
 
Ogufere made the call on Friday, in Abuja, during the town hall meeting tagged “Let Your Voice Be Heard”.
 
In her statement, she said, the major calling for interior designers is to foster professionalism and excellence, and also calling on the partners for togetherness in realizing the common goals towards professionalism.
 
Also, the newly elected National president of IDAN, Mrs. Jennifer Chukwujekwe, while welcoming the new elected members on board, called on her subordinate to come together and fight for a common goal and overcome the challenge facing interior designers, assuring that awareness will be created for interior designers for a good Nigeria, by inculcating cultural ideas, empowerment and diversity.
 
She also called for togetherness to fight the common challenges “so we can achieve great things,” and that the interior designers shouldn’t see themselves as competitors but as partners. According to her, a dawn for the interior design industry is now!
 
 “I promised to always be open with you, I will defence the constitution, I will defence our industry I will be the voice for our industry, I will give all to serve you, together we shall build IDAN that we all want, I believed in voice and I believed wealth,” Chukwujekwe pledged.
 
In his opening remark, the executive Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Bello Masari, who is also a member, represented by Faisal Jaafar Rafindadi, national coordinator, Katsina National Talent Project, made a pledge of one million naira from the Katsina State government to the non-governmental organization.
 
Meanwhile, the book “Interior Design Professional Guide” was launched and recommended for tertiary institutions who are studying Architecture and related courses.
 
The book was authored and reviewed by Titi Ogufere and is pioneered by 26 different contributors around the world.
 
The town hall meeting was highly interactive by the participants in bringing their challenges into lime light as they talked about the various strings withholding their achievements which was spelt out as synergy with other professionals, conflicts of designs, artisans not being empowered, health insurance, among others.
 
In her closing remarks, the IDAN national President,  reassured the professional body to stay calm that all their requests will be met, and promised to work together as a team for betterment of the country and achieving  professionalism.
